Police: 1 dead, 6 injured during separate shootings in Buffalo overnight

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Buffalo police say one person is dead and six others are injured after two separate shootings overnight at large gatherings.

Police say the first shooting happened around 4:20 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of Fillmore Avenue.

Police say five people were shot during a gathering at that location. One of the victims has died, according to police. The victims were taken to Sisters Hospital and also to Erie County Medical Center.

Police say the shooting on Fillmore Avenue appears to be "targeted in nature."

Around 4:30 a.m., Buffalo police say two people were shot in the leg while at at an illegal "pop-up party" in the 200 block of Fuhrmann Boulevard, along the waterfront. Investigators say the shooting appears to have been the result of a dispute.

The injuries to the two victims appear to be non-life threatening, according to police.
