EAST AURORA, N.Y. (WKBW) — East Aurora officials voted to ban non-compostable plastic straws and stirrers.
Neighbors who were for and against the ban filled the room for a meeting regarding the proposed law Monday night. The ban will affect businesses and will go into place on March 1, 2020.
Plastic forks, spoons, knives, lids and containers were originally banned in the proposed Environmental Stewardship local law.
Local restaurants have already made the switch from plastic to other alternatives.
The state voted to ban plastic bags starting next year.
