CLARENCE, N.Y. (WKBW) — Crazy. That's what Chris Phillips, the co-owner of Pesci's Pizza and Wings in Clarence has been called.

“I don't know if you're crazy or if you're a genius,” that’s what his Phillps’ friends have said to him.

“People over profit,” said Phillips, as his crew busily prepared orders for the dinner rush on Tuesday.

Pesci's Pizza and Wings will be closed this Sunday, the day the Buffalo Bills play for a spot in the Super Bowl.

“And if they win Sunday, we're going to be closed for the Super Bowl. I know it's crazy. I got friends in this business who are like, you’re nuts. I'm like, that's what we're doing. We want to enjoy it. We want the staff to enjoy it and hopefully it goes a long way,” said Phillips.

He told his staff of about 40, who he calls the “Pesci's kids,” over a Facebook video. They had no idea.

“They went to their parents and their friends and they thought they were joking,” added Phillips.

Phillips will be losing out on a lot of money. Bills games have been cash cows for his pizzeria.

“It seems like every Bills game is like Super Bowl sales for us,” Phillips said.

If Pesci's has been a part of your NFL playoff tradition this year, and you bought food from them over the last two Saturdays, they'll give you a free pizza. You just can't get that pizza this Sunday, and, hopefully, not on February 7th either.
