CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WKBW) — Easter this year is different is going to be different, and realizing how upsetting this could be to kids, one daycare owner in Cheecktowaga had an idea.
Emily Thrasher wants to photoshop pictures of your children with the Easter bunny for free. "It wouldn't make it completely better but at least you could pretend like it's real," she said.
Thrasher, a mother of three and owner of First Friends Daycare, made the announcement on the daycare's Facebook page.
"I have been having a lot of trouble sleeping like I'm sure a lot of people have. So this was like a three a.m. thing that I just thought of," she said.
The post blew up, with more than 800 comments and more than 1,000 shares.
For Thrasher, tradition is something she and her family really hold dear.
"Everyone has some traditions and for us Easter was always going to the mall or Kelly's Country Store or something to find an Easter bunny and we would take a picture with them," said Thrasher.
And maintaining this tradition in some way is especially important this year, for other families and for Thrasher - since it's her youngest daughter's first Easter.
"Especially for people with children, they see every single thing that we do. And they can feel when we're stressed out and overwhelmed and anxious, and it's very very hard to do," she said.
Families have the option of choosing between three pictures of the Easter bunny to have their kids photoshopped into.
The Cheektowaga daycare has seen a lower turnout and enrollment due to the Coronavirus, but the daycare is open - especially for parents who are essential workers.
