NORTH COLLINS, N.Y. (WKBW) — Tami and Jeff Bartels were in their home yesterday when a man in a Spectrum jacket came to their door. Tami cracked open the door to see what he wanted. The man offered a gift.

“We're not interested. There is no reason for any of that,” said Tami to the man.

The man refused to leave and pushed the cracked door open. Then Jeff came to the door.

“I told him I'm grabbing my gun. He said, go ahead. He said, I don't care,” recalled Jeff.

The man claiming to be a Spectrum report left in a silver car. The Bartels called the Erie County Sheriff's Office. They're investigating and still looking for the man. They say Spectrum doesn't believe it was one of their own employees.

The Town of North Collins sent out an alert and rob- calls with the suspected impersonators description.

A spokesperson from Spectrum sent this statement:

"These sorts of scams and impersonations aren't limited to Spectrum and it is good practice to be wary of any phone call, solicitation, or home visit from someone who pressures you to provide financial or personally identifiable information."

The spokesperson also said you can call them if you ever think there is questionable Spectrum activity near your home.
