PEMBROKE, N.Y. (WKBW) — For three hours, a small Genesee County town came together, albeit by practicing social distancing, after not seeing each other for weeks.

"Today was good for the soul," Arron Brown, a 6th-grade teacher in the Pembroke Central School District, said. He was one of the dozens of teachers who took part in the "thinking of you parade" as a way to check-in with students.

Brown said more than 80 cars, 11 buses, multiple fire trucks, State troopers and members of the Genesee County Sheriff's Department took part as families set off fireworks and cheered them on.

"Teachers cried, families cried...it was an awesome day!" Brown said.
