Clara Gomez, known to Buffalo community as Claire, killed in Main Street crash

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Buffalo police say 58-year-old Clara Gomez, who is also known in the community as Claire, was killed after a car crashed into the Buffalo Metro Rail station at Main and Utica Streets around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The Erie County District Attorney's Office announced a man has been arraigned as the investigation into the fatal crash continues. 22-year-old Marlon D. Servance, Jr. of Buffalo was arraigned Wednesday afternoon on one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and one count of first-degree reckless endangerment.

According to the district attorney's office, Servance is accused of firing multiple shots from an illegal handgun at another victim while driving separate vehicles on Jefferson Avenue and Best Street. Servance allegedly continued to pursue the victim onto Main Street. Gomez was hit by a vehicle during the pursuit and died at the scene.

In addition to the charges filed by the district attorney's office, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced Servance has been charged by criminal complaint with possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Servance was allegedly firing shots in the direction of the vehicle that struck and killed Gomez. Servance allegedly fled the scene but was taken into custody a short time later at an apartment on East Ferry.

Investigators searched the apartment and allegedly recovered a black Smith and Wesson firearm with an obliterated serial number. During a search of his vehicle, numerous fired cartridge casings were allegedly recovered.
