Paczki, Polka and Polish food, a WNY Pre-Lenten celebration

LANCASTER, N.Y. (WKBW) — Although not officially celebrated until Tuesday, a Lancaster church is celebrating Paczki (pronounced punch-key) Day Sunday.

One of Western New York's largest pre-Lenten celebrations, the 22nd annual Paczki Day celebration is being held at the Holy Mother of the Rosary Cathedral Sunday.

Paczki, polka and Polish food will be included in the event which runs from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Paczki Day is celebrated the day before Ash Wednesday and marks one of the last times to indulge before Lent.
