BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — An overnight crash in Buffalo's Elmwood Village caused a gas leak that prompted evacuations.
The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. Monday at the corner of Elmwood and Forest. An SUV appeared to strike the corner building which formerly housed a Subway, leading to a gas leak. The driver fled the scene, firefighters said.
The leak prompted fire crews to evacuate neighbors and businesses, including Calio's and Mister Goodbar.
As of 2 a.m., workers with National Fuel were still on-scene evaluating, but initial reports showed no signs of gas within the building.
No one was hurt.
