Over 3,000 pounds of marijuana worth over $8 million seized at Peace Bridge

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced another large quantity of marijuana was seized at the Peace Bridge.

CBP says on August 10 a commercial shipment manifested as seven skids of lighting was referred for further examination. Numerous cardboard boxes of vacuum sealed packages of marijuana were discovered inside 14 wooden pallet boxes.

The marijuana weighed 3,836 pounds with an estimated street value of of more than $8 million, according to CBP.

“These CBP Officers have remained vigilant and engaged as travel restrictions at the border continue”, said Port Director Jennifer De La O. “They have never let their guard down and their discovery of another large marijuana seizure exemplifies their dedication to the CBP mission.”

This seizure is one of several that have occurred at the Peace Bridge recently.
