BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — National Grid has approved two grants totaling $550,000 that were given to the Northland Workforce Training Center. In addition to that is $10,000 towards a new van that will be used to drop off and pick up students for class, something Northland needed.

"Currently, we are spending between three and four thousand dollars per month trying to assist our students with transportation" President and CEO of Northland Steven Tucker said.

This will make it easier for the students to fulfil their classes, making for a more prepared workforce National Grid is hoping feeds, not only Buffalo, but National Grid as well.

"We go as the economy goes, so if we have the opportunity to help Northland and it helps our customers, it's a wise investment for National Grid" National Grid Regional Director Ken Kujawa said.
