EVANS, N.Y. (WKBW) — One person has died after a New Year's Day house fire in Evans.
Evans Police say they responded to the Melody Meadows Mobile Home Park on Thomas Lane around 3:40 p.m. Thursday.
After the fire, crews say they found one person and several cats dead.
On Tuesday, the victim was identified as 71-year-old Lauren Bonnice and police said the Erie County Medical Examiner's Office ruled her death as a result of smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
