BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — More and more consumers are paying attention to electric vehicles, and one automobile manufacturer is hoping to capture that audience with an eye-popping promotion.

Hyundai is offering to lease its 2019 Ioniq EV for $99 per month for 36 months, up to 10,000 miles per year, with a $999 down-payment.

Northtown Hyundai in Amherst is among the dealerships in Western New York offering this promotion.

"We are selling out as soon as we get them in," sales manager Brian Sider told 7 Eyewitness News.

The dealership has already placed an order to re-stock its Ioniq vehicles due to the high demand, according to Sider.

Sider considers electric vehicles a practical, cost-effective option for motorists who want a low maintenance car.

"You are going to rotate your tires a couple times a year. There is no gas, no oil changes," Sider said.

Helping the Ioniq EV's ultra-reasonable price is New York State's $2,000 Drive Clean rebate and the federal government's $7,500 All-Electric tax credit. Both of these government programs apply to other electric vehicle brands too.

But even with the ultra low price and tax incentives, some skeptics still have "range anxiety" -- that is, concerns about how far the car will go before it needs to re-charge its battery.

Hyundai's Ioniq EV boasts 126 miles per charge overall, and between 150-160 miles per charge for inner-city driving.
