TOWN OF DARIEN, N.Y. (WKBW) — A New York State Police K9 officer is being hailed a hero for quickly catching a runaway criminal.

Troopers were advised by the Genesee County Sheriff's Office to be on the lookout for 28-year-old Nicholas Doell, who had several pending charges against him.

NYSP K9 was driving on Attica Road when they saw Doell, who immediately ran when he saw the patrol car. The trooper and his K9 partner, Rison, started to run after Doell.

Rison caught up to Doell, bit his leg and brought him down to the ground so he could be arrested. Doell was taken into custody, where he gave a fake name.

He is now facing additional charges for resisting arrest and criminal impersonation. Doell is in custody at GCSO jail.
