BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The deadline to get your license and registration renewed is right around the corner. The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles extended the deadline until November 3 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

But now drivers have just days to make sure licenses and registrations are up-to-date.

Employees at Casullo’s Automotive on Elmwood Avenue in Buffalo said their schedule is jam packed with inspections ahead of that deadline.

The phones are ringing off the hook at Dunn Tire too, but it’s not just for inspections. People are coming in to get their tires ready for winter.

David Ruffin, an assistant manager at the Dunn Tire on Delaware Avenue in Buffalo, said different locations are receiving between 100 and 200 calls a day.

“Some is for inspections, some is for change overs, some of them are just for new tires. Definitely with the winter coming up people are getting their winter tires on,” Ruffin said.

He said if you have been thinking about getting new tires, do it now.“Winter is definitely coming. It's coming a little bit quicker than a lot of people thought so definitely getting those winter tires on is the best option right now,” Ruffin said.
