7 Eyewitness News has received a statement from NRG concerning the future of the old industrial site.

It reads:
"NRG has entered into a Purchase and Sale Agreement (PSA) for the sale of Huntley Power. The buyer is WB Huntley Redevelopment, LLC, (part of WarrenBrook Redevelopment), a firm with experience in brownfield site redevelopment. This is an important step in the sales process. Closing is contingent upon satisfactory due diligence and other matters."

Town of Tonawanda Supervisor Joe Emminger says, "This is big news for the region."

He says the next step would be closing the plant, which still provides untreated water to local industry.

Emminger says this means a lot for the waterfront development in that area.

He believes the waterfront will look totally different in the next 10 to 15 years.
