LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WKBW) — A North Tonawanda man found guilty of dozens of sex crimes in August was sentenced Friday.

57-year-old Edward Lockwood was sentenced in Niagara County Court Friday to 50 years in prison as well as 20 years post supervision release. Lockwood will also have to register as a sex offender.

Officials say Lockwood addressed the court for over an hour and upon learning his sentence he smashed his head on the defense table and struggled with multiple New York State Court Officers and Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Deputies until he was ultimately subdued.

Lockwood was convicted in August on 39 counts of Unlawful Surveillance in the Second Degree, 11 counts of Sexual Abuse in First Degree, eight counts of Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree and two counts of Rape in the First Degree.

“I give high praise to the victim in this matter, who saw this case through to the end,” said First Assistant District Attorney, Holly E. Sloma.

“The victim’s sole motivation was to ensure that other women would not be subjected to the sexual violence perpetrated by this predator,” added Special Victims Unit Prosecutor, Cheryl L. Grundy.
