NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WKBW) — Nine staff members from the Northgate Health Care Facility in North Tonawanda are in mandatory quarantine while they recover from COVID-19.

There are no "in house" residents who have tested positive for the virus at this time, according to a spokesperson from the McGuire Group, which operates six health care facilities in Western New York.

McGuire notified the families of residents about the status of its employees. Two families have contacted 7 Eyewitness News, saying their loved one recently tested positive at Northgate and were moved to Harris Hill, McGuire's dedicated COVID-19 facility.

"We continue to follow all recommended guidelines including weekly resident and employee testing as well as screening before entering the facility," said Dawn Harsch, director of corporate communications for McGuire Group in a statement. "Proper PPE is provided and fit-tested, and we adhere to strict cleaning and disinfecting protocols."

Harsch says she is looking into the information provided to 7 Eyewitness News by the two families.

Northgate has a five out of five star rating from the New York State Department of Health, the highest possible rating.
