NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) — Two time Oscar winner for Best Costume Design Mark Bridges is nominated for another Oscar this year, for his work in one of the biggest movies of 2019 - 'Joker.'
He's a Niagara Falls Native, and we sat down with his close friends Melissa Rowcroft and Sherri Morgan to talk about his recent nomination.
"I called my daughter Jessica, I said uncle Mark did it again! He's nominated again!" said Rowcroft.
Bridges was a member of his school's drama club, and that's how he met Rowcroft and Morgan. They were all in the school play called Li'l Abner.
"I got the lead role as Daisy Mae, Mark was the director as well as the costume designer then," said Morgan. "And Missy was in the play, and She was very gracious to befriend me because I was new to the school."
Bridges had previously received two Oscars for his work on Phantom Thread and The Artist.
"We're just very proud of him and he's just, he's a down-to-earth type of guy," said Rowcroft.
And Rowcroft said her parents were his biggest fans.
"My mother always told him that he was going to go far and he was going to be fantastic," she said. "My mom and dad were his biggest fans. They're watching up there.">
You can watch the Oscars this Sunday at 8 p.m. on 7 ABC .
