Niagara County mom arrested while shopping with kids

NEWFANE, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Niagara County woman is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, DWAI, and violating Leandra's Law.

According to police, they received a tip call that 30-year old Rachel Ballew appeared to be under the influence of drugs while shopping with her children at the Kenyon's Variety Store on Main Street in the Town of Newfane the morning of Wednesday, September 18th.

Sheriff's deputies located the woman with her 2-year old son and 10-year old daughter and placed her under arrest. The two children were unharmed and turned over to their father.

Ballew is due back in Town of Newfane Court on September 24th for her arraignment.
