LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WKBW) — Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines. The doors to the Niagara County Department of Motor Vehicles are now open.

In-person transactions for Niagara County residents only have resumed at the auto bureaus in Lockport and North Tonawanda. They will soon resume in Niagara Falls.

Residents must make an appointment either online or by calling one of the DMV locations:

  • Lockport: 439-7350
  • North Tonawanda: 743-4599

The Niagara Falls location was previously being used as a Class D and Class M permit testing site only. As of June 29, the Niagara Falls location will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday by appointment only. Residents can begin making appointments this Friday.

Visitors to all auto bureaus must wear a face covering and should arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before the start of their scheduled appointment. Customers must also bring their own pen.

Niagara County officials have also announced New York State is now allowing road tests to be scheduled through the state website here. Those looking to schedule a 5-hour class should check with those who offer the class to see if they have reopened.

The Pistol Permit Office and the Veterans Service Agency are now accepting appointments as well.
