NEW YORK (WKBW) — New York State police have issued a warning to residents about a social security scam involving the DEA.

Police say if you receive a phone call from someone who identifies themselves as a member of the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) about your social security number being suspended you should not share any information.

Officials say the DEA and other law enforcement agencies have no affiliation with social security matters.
