BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Driving down Chippewa and Allen Street in Buffalo on the weekends can be a traffic mess at night. From people going downtown to different restaurants and bars many people are resorting to use Uber/Lyft to safely get to and from their destinations.

"Chippewa and Allen can get a little hectic in those areas," Dan Cycon, and Uber Driver said. "There's a lot of Uber and Lyft car going up and down Chippewa and it is sometimes hard for the riders to pick out which cars are for them."

But with all of the congestion, many Uber/Lyft drivers say they are fed up with Buffalo Police ticketing, and making the drivers move while they wait for their passengers. An Uber/Lyft driver Michael Smith created a petition to have designated spots on Chippewa and Allen Streets so that drivers can safely wait, pick-up and take their passengers to where they need to go.

"People who are having a good time all around people constantly walking up and down the streets, crossing the streets, the bars are hopping," Cycon said.

Buffalo Police say they are looking into adding the spots.

The petition currently has 19 signatures and the goal is 100.
