BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — A new piece of public art is helping to spruce up part of Buffalo's Allentown neighborhood, on a very special day.

Local artists Mickey Harmon and Ari Moore created a new pride mural on the side of Q Bar on Allen Street.

The mural highlights the ongoing struggles for the LGBTQ community, and those with ties to Western New York who have helped make great strides in the gay rights movement.

Sunday's unveiling also coincides with National Coming Out Day.

Artist Ari Moore said, "To those who also have children who are coming out, my advice is, as my mother told me when i came out at 16, I love you. Moving forward, the importance of this mural also,
is that a community that does not know its history and its lineage is lost."

This project is all part of the Albright-Knox public art initiative, and was partially funded by M&T Bank.
