EAST AURORA, N.Y. (WKBW) — Looking for a way to help your young children eat healthy and be more independent? Sarah Hornung, a soon to be mother of three from East Aurora, has this viral fridge hack to help.

The full-time school administrator and part-time lifestyle blogger said it started as a way to make her life quicker, but now it's all about making her kids independent. The snacks are ready to eat and stored where the kids can reach. She said it helps them eat healthier too.

"When they are given a choice they're more likely to choose something healthy because they don't feel like its being forced on them," Hornung said.

When she shared her tip with the world she never expected it to get over 116,000 shares and earn her a visit to GMA's Strahan, Sara, and Keke.

Hornung said her approach gained so much attention because it's just so simple.

"Our fridge is just like everybody else's it's just organized into containers, but we're not buying any crazy expensive foods," she said. "It's just the foods that everybody would buy every week they're just prepped and ready to go."
