Multiple agencies investigate bomb threats directed at Erie County buildings

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Erie County Sheriff's Office reports multiple agencies investigated bomb threats directed at Erie County buildings Wednesday afternoon.

The threats were directed at 25 Delaware Avenue (Erie County Courthouse) and 92 Franklin Street (Old County Hall), the sheriff's office was notified just before noon of a phone call that stated a bomb was in the building.

The buildings were evacuated and the Erie County Bomb Squad, explosive detection K9 teams from the sheriff's office, Buffalo police, NFTA police and the Department of Homeland Security responded to investigate.

The buildings were searched and nothing was recovered, the all clear was given around 3 p.m.

Multiple roads were closed in the area and have since been reopened.

The New York State Court System says the buildings will be closed for the remainder of Wednesday.

Anyone with a court related emergency (Erie Supreme and County Court, Erie County Surrogate's Court and Commissioner of Juror's Office) should report to the Buffalo City Court Criminal records room located at 50 Delaware Avenue.
