IRVING, N.Y. (WKBW) — Police have located the man they say crashed a boat into a break wall at Sunset Bay around 2:30 Monday morning.
Police called off a search for the suspects after they located Robert Bengert-- who they say was a passenger in the boat at the time of the crash.
After an investigation, police determined Scott Schieder of Cheektowaga was the boat operator. Both Bengert and Schieder left the scene without reporting the crash with minor injuries.
Crews are making arrangements to remove the boat from the break wall.
Authorities are still investigating. Charges are pending against Schieder.
