BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Western New York is reopening for business, which means there are job opportunities out there.

The Department of Labor launched its Jobs Express website to help job seekers find what kinds of openings are available and where.

The website breaks it down by region and occupation.

There are more than 8,400 jobs available in Western New York.

These are the businesses looking to hire in our area:

• Catholic Health - 465 positions

• Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center – 154 positions

• Home Depot - 124 positions

• University at Buffalo - 116 positions

Catholic Health tells us their openings are not related to the 1,200 employees furloughed in April, as most of them have returned to work. These are new positions.

The Labor Department is encouraging businesses to register and list their openings on the state job bank, and this is at no cost to those businesses.

The website also allows users to search jobs based on zip code and travel distance.

The search engine narrows down employment fields to more than 20 categories, including health care, production, sales, architecture and engineering, construction and transportation.
