BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A memorial fund has reached its $5,000 goal for slain pre-teen Badr Elwaseem.
The money, raised by the group Buffalo Nomads, will be used to build a pavilion in the boy's memory. Construction on the pavilion is expected to begin within the next two weeks behind the Universal School on Genesee Street in Buffalo.
12-year-old Badr was killed on April 6 after being hit by a stray bullet on the city's east side. The middle schooler was inside his family's upstairs apartment when a bullet from nearby gunfire pierced the residence, striking the boy in the head.
At this point, no arrest has been made.
Anyone with information is asked to call or text the Buffalo Police Confidential Tipline at 716-847-2255. People can also call Crime Stoppers Buffalo at 716-867-6161.
