NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) — 1 in 8 people in WNY are struggling with hunger, per FeedMore WNY.
For the past seven years, Brenda Bailor has been coming to the community mission in Niagara Falls for help.
"Without this place, we wouldn't make it through the month," said Bailor. "Times are tough, you know?"
And with the holiday season quickly approaching, it can be even harder.
"Me and my husband are both disabled and you don't always have choices, you have to either choose your medication or food and medication is more important," said Bailor.
A choice Dana Harris can relate to. She comes to the mission to support her six children.
"It's very important to have food in their mouths. You know when social services doesn't help and cuts you off of public assistance, they're there for you," said Harris.
Brenda and Dana are among 139,780 that turn to FeedMore for help each month.
"They make sure you don't leave empty handed. They make sure that you go home and you're going to have something to eat," said Bailor.
