NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) — Medal of Honor recipient David Bellavila is giving back to the soldiers he served alongside with in Iraq.
Bellavia hosted a fundraiser Saturday evening to benefit soldiers in the 2-2 Infantry along with their families who are experiencing hardships or need other assistance.
The 2-2 Infrantry was his prior Task Force in Iraq.
A total of 300 people attended the benefit at the Rapids Theater on Main Street in Niagara Falls.
"We want to be there for them because ultimately that's our responsibility as a group...is to take care of each other," he said. "And the men i served with really deserve that and much more."
Bellavia also received the key to the city during the event.
