Man flees accident scene into wooded area, facing multiple charges

WHEATFIELD, N.Y. (WKBW) — Multiple agencies responded Friday morning to the area of Ward and Stenzil Roads where a man reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed struck a stop sign and a tree.

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office says 35-year-old Keith Blose of Ransomville was the operator of the vehicle and immediately fled into a wooded area following the crash.

The sheriff's office along with United States Customs and Border Protection, North Tonawanda police and Town of Niagara police began to search for Blose.

Two schools and a daycare in the area were put into a shelter in place as a precaution.

Blose was taken into custody a short time later.

He faces the following charges:

Driving while intoxicated
Aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree
Criminal mischief in the third degree
Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in the third degree
Resisting arrest
Reckless driving
Obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree
