NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) — A man is fighting for his life after police said he crashed his motorcycle into the side of a police SUV in Niagara Falls.

It happened around 7 p.m. Wednesday night at the intersection of Ferry Avenue and 3rd Street.

While the investigation into what happened remains ongoing, police said the patrol SUV had the right of way as it drove through the intersection along Ferry. That's when police said a 67-year-old motorcyclist hit the passenger side of the vehicle. He was driving northbound on 3rd, and had come to a complete stop before the collision, police said.

The motorcyclist was partially ejected. He suffered leg and internal injuries and was taken to Erie County Medical Center. The 31-year-old officer behind the wheel of the SUV, a four-year veteran of the department, was not hurt. No names were released by police.
