Man dead after fire on Guilford Street in Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Buffalo fire investigators say a man was killed in an accidental fire Saturday evening.

The fire began around 6:30 p.m. at 334 Guilford Street, there were heavy fire conditions when crews arrived at the scene.

Officials say firefighters found a man in an upper floor bedroom and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have identified the victim as 49-year-old Mohammed Bayoh, of Buffalo.

Investigators say the cause of the fire has been ruled accidental. It began on an upper floor of the single family residence.

Another man who lived at the residence is being assisted by the Red Cross.

Officials estimate the damage at $120,000.
