Man charged with shooting and killing victim near Buffalo State College, fleeing to Puerto Rico

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Buffalo man has been arrested and charged in connection to a deadly shooting near Buffalo State College.

Police say 24-year-old Hommys Rivera-Lopez shot and killed Emmanuel Correa-Villegas on Letchworth Street. The shooting happened on October 16, 2018.

Authorities say Lopez fled to Puerto Rico. He was located by the U.S. Marshals Service. Lopez returned to Buffalo after he waived extradition.

Lopez is charged with one count of Murder and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon. If convicted, Lopez faces up to 25 years to life in prison.
