WHEATFIELD, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Niagara County Sheriff's Office says a man has been charged with second degree murder for allegedly killing his 61-year-old father in Wheatfield, Saturday morning.

Authorities say they received a call from a third party reporting a father and son domestic incident on Hill Road in the Town of Wheatfield, just after 7:45 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers detained 42-year-old Bryan W. Cummings, who was standing outside the home.

Officers then found 61-year-old Ward A. Cummings unresponsive on the floor with multiple head lacerations.

Patrol and EMS agencies performed life saving measures on the man but were unsuccessful.

Bryan Cummings has been charged with second degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.

He is being held pending arraignment.
