BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A 26-year-old Buffalo man is facing reckless endangerment charges after he allegedly led police on a chase while driving a stolen U-Haul truck.

According to the Erie County District Attorney's office, Jaewon D. Shropshire was behind the wheel of the truck, which had been reported stolen in April, when he was spotted by police on Bailey Avenue, Sunday evening. Police say Shropshire put the truck in reverse when police approached the vehicle and backed up into a car before accelerating forward, forcing an officer to jump out of the way.

After a pursuit, the truck hit a dead-end on Orleans Street where Shropshire allegedly fled on foot before he was apprehended on Oakmont Avenue.

Shropshire is facing reckless endangerment charges and several traffic violations.. He was released on his own recognizance and set to return to court in July.
