Man arrested following car larcenies in Genesee County

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Livingston County man is facing multiple charges after a string of car larcenies in Genesee County.

The Genesee County Sheriff's Office says 24-year-old Daniel Jon Lewis of Lima, N.Y. was arrested early Saturday morning following an investigation.

Lewis was originally taken into custody January 24th following a foot pursuit after it was reported he was attempting to gain entry to cars in the area of Rollin Circle East in Batavia.

He was found to be in possession of a number of items believed to be associated with recent car larcenies following the arrest.

A previous police report states Lewis was also arrested on January 23rd for grand larceny in the fourth degree after he allegedly stole a vehicle from the Town of Batavia on January 3rd. He was issued an appearance ticket to return to court at a later date.

Following the Saturday arrest Lewis faces the following charges:

  • 13 counts of fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property
  • Eight counts of fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property
  • One count of third degree criminal possession of personal identification number.

Lewis was issued appearance tickets and scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
