NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) — Get your ponchos out! The Maid of the Mist is set to open its 2019 season!

Starting Friday at 9AM, the Maid of the Mist VI and VII will be departing every 15 minutes from the landing in Niagara Falls State Park.

Back in 1846, the Maid of the Mist I started as a ferry for stagecoach and horses. Since 1885, the Maid of the Mist has ventured closer to the Horseshoe Falls than any other boat ever had, and service has continued non-stop for 134 consecutive seasons.

“As one of North America’s longest running tourist attractions, we are looking forward to once again welcoming guests from around the world,” said Christopher M. Glynn, president of Maid of the Mist Corp. “There is always great anticipation as our vessels begin their voyages to the base of Niagara Falls, providing guests with an iconic experience only available on Maid of the Mist.”

Earlier this month, we told you the Maid of the Mist announced that this season will bring in two new all-electric, emission-free passenger vessels. They are the first of their kind in the United States. They will be placed into service later this summer.

Adult tickets are $19.25; Child Ticket (6–12 years) $11.20; children 5 and under are free with accompanying adult.

The season runs through November 3rd. For more information on tickets and tourism, head to the Maid of the Mist website!
