LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WKBW) — Lockport High School is closing on Friday so that custodial staff can thoroughly clean infected areas of the building after a positive COVID-19 case was reported.

The online school district bulletin says say high school staff and students will work remotely on Friday, and return to school on Monday.

All athletic activities and in-person school related activities were canceled Thursday.

"The Lockport City School District is fully cooperating with the Niagara County Department of Health by providing information for contact tracing. The NCDOH will contact any individual who they believe may have been in close contact with the individual," the bulletin said.

Since September 23rd, there have been a total of six COVID-19 cases across all Lockport Schools.

According to the District's website, there was also a single case of COVID-19 reported at North Park Jr. High School on Thursday, and a separate case at Anna Merritt Elementary School reported on Wednesday. No closures have been announced at either school.

All Lockport High School West students and staff are being told to report to school on Friday as scheduled.
