BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — Students at McKinley High School were placed in ‘lockdown’ earlier Monday.

It was issued after a rumor circulated about a weapon in the school.

According to Buffalo Schools spokesperson Elena Cala, "rumored weapon on site. Following a K9 sweep by Buffalo Police, lockdown was lifted."

A parent also contacted the 7 Eyewitness Newsroom to say her daughter told her about the lockdown that occurred around 11 a.m. Monday.

It was the second area school placed in lockdown Monday following threats. Frontier High School was sent into lockdown mode on Monday over an email threat.
