TOWN OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Ken-Ton Union Free School District has lifted its lock-out at Franklin Elementary School and Franklin Middle School in the Town of Tonawanda. It initiated the lock-out on Friday afternoon, due to an "ongoing police situation" in the neighborhood.
The schools, both located on Parkhurst Boulevard, were not directly involved in the police situation, and the district says there is "no threat to student safety." The district held off on dismissing students until the all-clear was given from police.
7 Eyewitness News is working to get more information on why the lock-out was initiated.
