BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Parents make a lot of sacrifices to see their kids succeed, and one local college is working to recognize that sacrifice with a new scholarship.

Medaille College announced the scholarship Saturday during the annual Accepted Students Luncheon.

"We're telling our students, many of whom are first-gen, that as soon as they finish their degree at Medaille College they have actually earned their parents a free college tuition scholarship to help pay their parents back for helping them to get to this place," said College President Dr. Kenneth Macur.

Tentatively dubbed the "Medaille First-Gen Payback Scholarship," the full-tuition benefit will be available to parents or guardians of students who graduated from Medaille College with an associate or bachelor's degree.

The idea, is to help make college affordable and accessible to everyone.
