BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — The Canalside fitness series, presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Western New York, has gone virtual!
“We’re still hoping that this can bring a fun joy to people inside their homes or outside their homes in their backyards,” Kate Schrum, Communications Relations Specialist of BCBS WNY said.
Every day of the week offers something new like yoga, zumba, HIIT classes, and even workouts for kids. All videos will be uploaded to the Buffalo Waterfront website (click here) and will remain online for 24 hours. The classes are free to anyone and are filmed using social distancing protocols.
“We had a great time doing it," zumba instructor Olivia Ebsary said of recording their first virtual class. "I think the people that are at watching it and are doing it will sense that and get into it as well.”

Independent Health along with YMCA are also offering free fitness virtual classes through their Fitness in the Parks series. Anyone wishing to join the classes can join the live-streams each night offered on two different Facebook pages (YMCA Buffalo Niagara and Jamestown Area YMCA).
