LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (WKBW) — A local church is hoping to become more than a place for worship.
The Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Lackawanna unveiled plans for a new health and wellness center. It would include a gymnasium and daycare.
Church leaders say they want to offer critical health and wellness services that aren't otherwise available.
"We are in desperate need," says Pastor Keith Mobley. "This community has been in the backside for a long time of not having these services, and members of the community have to leave the city just to find services such as this."
Church leaders are hoping to break ground later this year.
