16 people displaced after fire breaks out inside Amherst apartment

AMHERST, N.Y. (WKBW) — Investigators are looking into what caused a kitchen fire at a two-story apartment in Amherst Thursday evening.

Authorities said this happened at 326 Little Robin Road some time around 9:30 p.m. It displaced four occupants who were in the process of moving out of a unit, along with the 12 others in the additional three units.

All told, the structural damage amounted to $150,000 and $100,000 in content damage.

None one was injured. The fire was brought under control in about 20 minutes.

The Getzville Fire Company initially responded to the incident within three minutes and received assistance from Eggertsville, Elliott Creek, and North Bailey Fire companies along with emergency services, fire inspectors, and police in Amherst, and Twin City Ambulance.
