BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — You can add Kenmore and the Town of Tonawanda to the list of communities canceling major annual events due to concerns with COVID-19.

Leaders have decided to cancel the Ken-Ton Memorial Parade, which draws thousands of people to Delaware Avenue between Sheridan Drive and Delaware Avenue every Memorial Day.

Town and village leaders say there were discussions about moving the parade to July 4th, but many participants already have other commitments.

The parade has taken place for more than 70 years. This marks the first time it has been canceled for a reason other than weather.
