Jury finds Buffalo man guilty of murder in connection with 2018 shooting

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Erie County District Attorney's Office announced Monday a jury convicted the gunman and the getaway driver of a 2018 east side homicide.

After a nearly two week trail, 28-year-old Montek Mastin was found guilty of second degree murder and second degree criminal possession of a weapon.

24-year-old Jamal Young was found guilty of second degree criminal possession of a weapon, he was found not guilty of murder.

The district attorney's office says on July 14th, 2018 Mastin shot 28-year-old Dion Donald multiple times as he was seated in the passenger seat of a vehicle at a gas station at Genesee and Crossman.

Donald later died from his injuries at ECMC.

The district attorneys office says Young was the getaway driver and was charged as an accomplice.

Mastin faces 25 years to life and Young faces a maximum of 15 years, they are set to be sentenced on January 31st.
