ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester has unveiled its 12 finalists for this year's National Toy Hall of Fame class, and you can help decide which toys get enshrined.
This year's nominees include the following
- Baby Nancy
- Breyer Horses
- Masters of the Universe
- My Little Pony
- sidewalk chalk
“These 12 toys represent the wide scope of playthings—from simple sidewalk chalk that has its roots in ancient times, to Baby Nancy, which proved a turning point in the representation of race in dolls, to the more-recent, highly innovative Tamagotchi,” says Christopher Bensch, vice president for collections. “Whether old or new, or simple of high-tech, all 12 of these toy finalists greatly influenced the world of play.”
You can vote now through September 16th for your favorite toy by clicking here.
The three toys that receive the most votes from the public will be submitted on one ballot and join the other top-three submissions from the National Selection Advisory Committee members.
The final inductees will be announced on Thursday, November 5th at 10:30 a.m.
Since 1998, 71 toys have been inducted including Barbie, Lego, and the teddy bear.
Last year, coloring book, Magic: The Gathering, and Matchbox cars were inducted.
