JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Jamestown Public School Administration and Jamestown police are encouraging parents and guardians to speak to their children about the importance of not talking to strangers following a suspicious incident Thursday.

Police say around 8:30 a.m. Thursday two students were walking to Ring School when two white males in a white van drove up to them on Hotchkiss Street near Clyde Avenue and attempted to engage them in conversation.

Officials say the students did not talk with the males and continued on to school.

According to police, at this time it is unknown what the intention of the males was and video in the area is being checked to see if the van or the males can be identified.

Anyone with information is asked to call Jamestown police at 483-7537.
